Shin Tae-yong: "This Is Not A Failure"

On December 22, 2024, Indonesian national football team coach Shin Tae-yong addressed reporters in Solo, Central Java, stating that the team's performance in the 2024 AFF Cup should not be deemed a failure.
Instead, he emphasized that the experience gained is valuable for the younger players. Shin noted that the current squad will be participating in the U-23 Asian Cup and the SEA Games next year, highlighting the need for patience and trust in the development of the team.
He acknowledged the fatigue among players during their final match against the Philippines, which impacted their performance. Despite the disappointment, he remains optimistic about future matches, particularly looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup qualifying rounds, where he hopes to see improved results.
Shin's message is clear: with trust and experience, success will come for Indonesian football.
