2024 AFF Cup: Indonesia Falls Short of Semifinals After 1-0 Loss to Philippines
The Indonesian national team was eliminated from the 2024 AFF Cup following a 1-0 defeat to the Philippines in their final Group B qualifying match at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, on December 21, 2024.
Indonesia's captain, Muhammad Ferarri, received a red card in the 42nd minute, leaving the team with ten players. Despite this setback, Marselino Ferdinan and his teammates applied pressure on the Azkals’ defense early in the second half.
The Philippines took the lead in the 63rd minute with a penalty kick converted by Bjorn Martin Kristensen, awarded after Dony Tri Pamungkas committed a handball.
With this result, Indonesia finished third in Group B with four points, while the Philippines secured second place with six points, advancing to the semifinals. Vietnam topped the group with ten points after a decisive 5-0 victory over Myanmar in their final match.

The semifinals will see the Philippines join Vietnam, while Thailand and Singapore have already qualified from Group A.
