Information
The current season of the Israeli Premier League features 14 teams. The league is played in a home-and-away round-robin format in the first phase, consisting of 26 matchweeks.
I. Points System and Standings
Points per Match: 3 points are awarded for a win, 0 points for a loss, and 1 point for a draw. Teams are ranked based on their accumulated points at the end of the season.
II. Tie-breaking Criteria (if points are equal, teams are ranked in the following order):
a) Goal difference
b) Number of wins
c) Goals scored
d) Head-to-head record (points)
e) Head-to-head goal difference
f) Head-to-head goals scored
III. The top 6 teams enter a Championship Play-off (home-and-away round-robin format). The bottom 8 teams enter a Relegation Play-off (single round-robin format).
Ⅳ. Points Carried Over: All points earned in the first phase are carried forward to the second phase.
European Qualification & Relegation
European Qualification (from Championship Play-off):
1st place: UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds
2nd place: UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds
3rd place: UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds
Israel State Cup: The winner of the Israel State Cup qualifies for the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. If the Cup winner already qualifies for a European competition through their league standing, that European spot is passed down (cascades) according to the final league ranking.
Relegation: The last two teams in the Relegation Play-off are directly relegated to the Israeli National League (Liga Leumit).
