Returning to Chelsea! Eberl Confirms: Bayern Will Not Activate Jackson's Buy Option

April 26 – Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Eberl recently spoke to German media, addressing topics including the club's head coach appointment, captain Manuel Neuer's future, player buy options, and summer transfer plans.

On appointing Vincent Kompany as head coach
"We spoke with Nagelsmann, Rangnick, and Glasner. Some also wanted Flick to return. Kompany was always on our list, but at the time I didn't dare to reach out to him first. He is a fantastic person and an outstanding coach. All the feedback we received – including from Guardiola – was very positive. I suggested Karl-Heinz Rummenigge give Pep a call. That broke the deadlock, and we were then able to finalize Kompany's signing smoothly."

On Manuel Neuer
"He is a club legend. We will sit down calmly and talk. As long as Neuer personally feels he is still up to it, I see no reason against him playing on for another year."

On Nicolas Jackson's future
"We will not activate the buy option in Jackson's contract."

On Anthony Gordon
"In the summer, we can enter the transfer market with complete composure. Discussing players who might only join on July 1 at this stage would be disrespectful to the current squad members."

On whether Michael Olise will stay at Bayern
"There's no question about it. As far as we're concerned, there's no need to discuss it at all. His development here has been ideal."

On his two-year experience at Bayern
"I've always been under a magnifying glass. At times, I wished the club had offered me more protection. But I am fully aware of the size of Bayern as a club – you can never truly be fully prepared for the role. The only thing you can do is give your all and face every challenge head-on."
