Milan come from behind to beat Juventus 2-1 in Super Cup semi-final

AC Milan
advanced to the Italian Super Cup final after rallying to defeat Juventus 2-1 on Friday in Sergio Conceicao's first match as manager. The victory sets up a derby showdown against Inter Milan.

Juventus initially took the lead in the 21st minute through Kenan Yildiz. However, Milan equalized in the second half with a penalty from Christian Pulisic, followed by an own goal from Federico Gatti that completed the comeback.

Milan will face Inter in the final on Monday, following Inter's 2-0 win over Atalanta in their semi-final match. Conceicao stepped in as Milan’s manager after the dismissal of Paulo Fonseca just days prior.

The anticipated storyline of a father-son clash was dampened when Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao, who was set to start, sustained an injury during the warm-up. He was replaced by Yildiz, who opened the scoring with a powerful shot into the roof of the net, beating Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

In the second half, Yildiz nearly extended Juve's lead and provided an assist, but Dusan Vlahovic missed the opportunity. Milan had a significant chance to equalize when Theo Hernandez shot over the bar from close range after a corner.

The game shifted when Nicolo Savona fouled Hernandez in the 71st minute, leading to a penalty that Pulisic converted by sending the ball down the middle. Milan took the lead shortly after when Yunus Musah’s cross deflected off Gatti and into the net.

Conceicao praised his team's second-half performance, stating, "For our second-half performance, we deserved the final. In the first half, I saw a Milan with many doubts, like a few weeks ago. Then we spoke at halftime and they were really brave."

Juventus had a late chance to equalize, but Gatti’s volley from close range went just wide. After the match, Conceicao embraced his son and celebrated with his players, now looking to prevent Inter from winning their fourth consecutive Super Cup title.

"The second half was completely different, but we haven't done anything yet," Conceicao remarked. "We have one less day of rest, and this is an important factor."
