Aston Villa were held to a draw by Brighton despite Ollie Watkins celebrating his birthday with a goal and an assist.
Brighton's winless streak stretched to seven matches despite taking an early lead at Villa Park. Simon Adingra gave the visitors the advantage with a curling effort in the 12th minute, capitalizing on a swift counter-attack.

However, Aston Villa responded with a strong comeback. After being denied a penalty earlier, they were awarded one in the 36th minute following a VAR review. Ollie Watkins confidently converted the spot-kick, sending goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen the wrong way.

Villa completed their comeback two minutes into the second half with a brilliantly executed goal. Ollie Watkins chipped a delightful ball over the top, which Morgan Rogers expertly collected and finished with a low shot into the bottom corner.

Despite dominating much of the second half, Villa were unable to hold onto their lead. Brighton's Tariq Lamptey unleashed a powerful drive past Emiliano Martinez in the 81st minute, salvaging a point for the visitors.

The draw left Villa three points off fifth place in the table, a position that could potentially secure Champions League qualification this season. Brighton, who have struggled away from home, remained in 10th place, having won just once in their last 15 visits to Villa Park.
