Pep Guardiola: Manchester City won't target short-term fix for slump

Manchester City
manager Pep Guardiola has stated that the club will not resort to short-term solutions in the upcoming January transfer window to address their recent poor form. City's struggles continued with a 1-1 draw against Everton on Boxing Day, leaving them with only one win in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

Guardiola acknowledged the need for new players in January, but emphasized the importance of long-term signings. He expressed concerns about the disruptive nature of winter transfers, stating that players often become unhappy if they are not immediately integrated into the starting lineup.

Despite dominating possession, City struggled to create clear-cut chances against Everton. Bernardo Silva's deflected shot gave them the lead, but Iliman Ndiaye equalized before halftime. Erling Haaland missed a penalty, and City failed to find a winner.

Guardiola admitted that the team is going through a difficult period, with injuries and inconsistent performances impacting their form. He emphasized the importance of patience and acknowledged that the team's recent struggles are a departure from their usual high standards.
