Manchester United Boss Amorim Faces Pressure After 3-0 Loss to Bournemouth
In a disappointing match on December 22, 2024, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim took full responsibility for his team's 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth. The loss marked a troubling point in the season, leaving United in 13th place in the Premier League—its first time in the bottom half at Christmas.
Goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert, and Antoine Semenyo sealed the win for Bournemouth, further highlighting United's struggles, particularly in defending set pieces. This season, United has conceded 17 goals from set pieces, the highest in the league's history for the club.

Amorim acknowledged the frustration of the fans, many of whom left the stadium early, and expressed the need for improvement. He noted that the team's mental state is a significant factor in their struggles, stating, "There's a lot of anxiety... everybody in the club is tired of these moments."
Despite having more shots on goal than Bournemouth, United failed to convert their chances, with captain Bruno Fernandes notably missing several opportunities. Amorim's decision to omit Marcus Rashford from the squad for the third consecutive game has also sparked speculation about the player's future with the team.
As United prepares for upcoming challenges, Amorim emphasized the need to address the team's issues and focus on future matches.
