Cole Palmer's Penalties Propel Chelsea to Thrilling Victory Over Spurs

Cole Palmer scored two penalties as Chelsea staged a stunning comeback to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 in a dramatic London derby on Sunday, narrowing the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Tottenham got off to a dream start with goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski in the first 11 minutes, aided by two unfortunate slips from Chelsea's Marc Cucurella. However, Chelsea quickly responded, showcasing their title ambitions.
Jadon Sancho ignited Chelsea's momentum with a powerful shot in the 17th minute, and Palmer equalized from the spot just after the hour mark as Chelsea dominated the second half.

Enzo Fernández put Chelsea ahead with a strong finish, and Palmer sealed the victory with his second penalty late in the game, although Son Heung-Min scored a consolation goal in stoppage time.
With this win, Chelsea sits second in the league with 31 points from 15 matches, four points behind Liverpool, whose match against Everton was postponed due to high winds.

Tottenham's defeat was their second in a week, leaving them in 11th place with 20 points, intensifying the pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou, especially after losing center back Cristian Romero to injury early in the match.
"It’s painful. We started well but losing Cristian Romero forced us to reshuffle," Postecoglou told Sky Sports. "The momentum shifted quickly."

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has tempered expectations regarding their title chances, despite the team being unbeaten in seven matches and winning their last four in the league. They are currently the top scorers in the division with 35 goals, and Palmer has been in exceptional form, accumulating 50 goal involvements (33 goals and 17 assists) in just 48 Premier League appearances since joining from Manchester City.

"The first 10 or 15 minutes, we conceded two easy goals, but overall we controlled the game," Maresca said. "The players' response was mentally strong both on and off the ball."

The match began poorly for Chelsea, with Cucurella slipping twice, leading to Tottenham's early goals. After changing his footwear, the tide turned for Chelsea as Sancho struck a stunning shot off the post to begin their comeback.
Chelsea caught a break when Moisés Caicedo avoided a red card after a dangerous challenge, and soon after, Tottenham's Sarr hit the woodwork.

Despite some pressure from Tottenham in the second half, a reckless challenge by Yves Bissouma on Caicedo resulted in a clear penalty, which Palmer converted. Son had a chance to level the score, but Fernández volleyed Chelsea into the lead in the 73rd minute after a dazzling run from Palmer.

Palmer capped off his excellent performance with a cheeky "panenka" penalty after being fouled by Sarr. Son's late tap-in provided little relief for Tottenham, who also lost Micky van de Ven to injury in the closing moments of the match.
