Real Madrid win after Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham goals

Jude Bellingham converted a penalty, and Kylian Mbappé added another goal before half-time to secure a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid over Getafe at the Bernabéu on Sunday, moving them closer to LaLiga leaders Barcelona.

With this win, Madrid climbed to second place on the table with 33 points from 14 matches, just one point behind Barcelona, who have played one more game. Getafe, on the other hand, are 17th with 13 points from 15 matches.

Real Madrid were awarded a penalty in the 30th minute after Getafe right-back Allan Nyom fouled centre-back Antonio Rudiger in the box during a corner delivery. Bellingham stepped up to take the spot kick instead of Mbappé, who missed a penalty in Madrid's 2-0 defeat at Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday. Bellingham confidently sent the ball down the middle, beating goalkeeper David Soria. This marked Bellingham's third consecutive league match with a goal.

Mbappé quickly doubled Madrid's lead in the 38th minute. He received a brilliant pass from Bellingham and whipped a shot from outside the box to score his 10th goal of the season across all competitions. The France captain, who transferred from Paris Saint-Germain to Madrid on a free transfer in June, is now Madrid's joint-top scorer in the league with eight goals, tied with the injured Vinícius Júnior.

Mbappé looked particularly lively in the second half and came close to scoring a third goal on three occasions. His most notable attempt came when he made an impressive run through on goal and rounded Soria, only to see his effort go just wide.

Madrid dominated the match, holding 70% of the possession and creating several chances to extend their lead. Getafe, however, also had their moments, hitting the woodwork twice. Midfielder John Patrick's shot in the closing minutes of the game even beat Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois but was denied by the frame of the goal.

Overall, it was a commanding performance by Real Madrid, who now find themselves hot on the heels of their arch-rivals Barcelona in the race for the LaLiga title.
