Kim Min-jae's Goal Secures Bayern Munich's 1-0 Victory Over Paris St Germain
Bayern Munich overcame 10-man Paris St Germain with a 1-0 win in the Champions League on Tuesday, thanks to Kim Min-jae's decisive goal. This victory enhances Bayern's chance of automatic qualification while putting PSG in a precarious position after suffering their third loss in the competition.
Bayern's victory marks their second consecutive win in the tournament following a rocky start that saw only one win and two defeats. The team now sits 11th with nine points from five matches, just one point away from the top eight spots that ensure automatic qualification for the last 16.
In contrast, Luis Enrique's PSG is struggling at 26th with four points, currently outside the playoff spots with three matches left in the first phase.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern, who will face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday before next week's German Cup last-16 clash at home against holders Bayer Leverkusen, began the match strongly. Early chances from Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane set the pace.
PSG responded with opportunities of their own, but neither Ousmane Dembele, who was later sent off just before the hour mark, nor Joao Neves could get past Bayern's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
PSG, desperate for points with their only win coming against Girona in their opener, conceded first when South Korea's Kim Min-jae headed home from close range after goalkeeper Matvei Safonov fumbled a corner in the 38th minute.
Before PSG had time to regroup, Bayern nearly scored again five minutes before halftime, but Kingsley Coman's solo effort went over the bar.
The situation worsened for PSG when Dembele was sent off for a second booking following a lunging tackle in the 57th minute, leaving PSG with ten men.
Taking advantage of the extra player, Bayern intensified their pressure. Coman almost scored again in the 66th minute, narrowly missing the target after a quick passing sequence.
Safonov redeemed himself somewhat by tipping a Musiala shot onto the post, but despite late efforts, PSG couldn't prevent Bayern from securing their seventh consecutive victory and seventh straight clean sheet in all competitions.
