Revealed, Liverpool Had Prepared Antony as Mohamed Salah's Replacement

Antony's agent has confirmed that the winger was approached by Liverpool as a replacement for Mohamed Salah before he joined Manchester United .
According to reports, Liverpool are exploring a bid to sign Antony as Salah remains undecided over a contract extension at Anfield in 2022.
Salah, now Liverpool's fifth-highest goalscorer in history, extended his stay on Merseyside and Antony, then with Ajax, then completed an £82m move to Old Trafford.

It appears Liverpool have avoided disaster in the past two years, with Antony failing to live up to expectations at Man United and the Red Devils desperate to offload the player in the January transfer window.

Was Once Targeted by Liverpool
Salah, meanwhile, has further cemented his status as Liverpool's greatest player of all time, but uncertainty has again reignited over the Egyptian's future.
"Yes, this story has a basis in truth," said Antony's agent, Junior Pedroso, when asked about his client's interest in Liverpool.
"Salah renewed his contract with Liverpool at that time and that made Anthony's move to Liverpool impossible."

Leaving MU?
Antony has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with United chiefs reportedly open to cutting their losses on the winger in January.
That comes despite his agent, Junior Pedroso, confirming last summer that Antony only saw his future at Old Trafford.
"I saw reports about a potential loan exit. Antony's plans are clear: Manchester United," Pedroso added.
"He wants to stay, he is only focused on Man United. We have spoken about that with the club."

Prepare a Replacement for Salah
While Antony is highly unlikely to join Liverpool anytime soon, the Reds still have a job to do to resolve Salah's future. Arne Slot explained his thoughts recently.
"I've been working with him for four or five months, and you've seen him here for six or seven years straight," Slot said.
"It's very special that he has scored so many goals what makes it even more impressive is that he does it year after year.
"Not many players are able to do that and that he is able to do that says a lot about the quality he has.”
However, they have a potential successor in Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush. Salah's compatriot has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists for the German side so far this season.
