Exeter City grab dramatic late winner in Premier League Cup tie

Exeter City’s U21s made it two wins from two in the Premier League Cup with a dramatic late winner over Norwich City. The Grecians had led through an own goal just after half-time, before a 88 th minute equalizer from the Canaries looked to have snatched a point.
But Dan Green’s side rallied and secured after three points moment later. Theo Cutler smashed home a strike from the edge of the area to claim the win and put Exeter in control of the group.
Harry Lee started in goal for the Grecians with Charlie Cummins, Ed James and Louis Cayless in the backline. Liam Oakes and Mitch Beardmore started as wing-backs with Tom Dean, Jake Richards and a fit again Pedro Borges in midfield. Amani Richards and Jay Bird were the front two.
City created some early chances with Bird firing over from close range, before Cutler, who replaced the striker in a planned change after 25 minutes, nearly scored with his first touch after being picked out by Oakes. In the 52 nd minute though City did break through and take the lead. Amani Richards broke down the left and put in a cross, which a Norwich defender turned into with own net with Cutler and Borges lurking.、
Borges then hit the post as the Grecians pushed for a second, with Caleb Watts continuing his return from injury as he came on for Leicester City loanee Richards. Lee made a pair of excellent saves, but in the 88 th minute, Fin Welch snatched an equaliser which looked like it had earned the Championship side a point.
But Exeter went up the other end and won it. Watts played a beautiful lofted ball to Cutler, who controlled it on the edge of the box. The teenager beat his man and smashed the strike into the roof of the net and make it 2-1.
