Alex Telles Joins Botafogo on 2.5-Year Deal

Brazilian club Botafogo has secured the signing of experienced left-back Alex Telles on a 2.5-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of 2026. The deal was finalized on Tuesday night after Telles terminated his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Telles’ return to Brazil marks a reunion with his roots, as he previously played for Gremio and Internacional earlier in his career. His most recent stint in Brazil was with Porto from 2017 to 2020, where he established himself as one of the top left-backs in Europe and earned a move to Manchester United.

After a mixed spell at Manchester United, Telles joined Al Nassr in January 2023 but his time in Saudi Arabia was short-lived. The opportunity to return to Brazil and play for a club like Botafogo proved too tempting to turn down.

Botafogo is currently enjoying a successful season, challenging for the Brazilian Serie A title. The addition of Telles, with his wealth of experience and quality, will further bolster their chances of securing a domestic championship.
